The daily amount of food that dogs need
is influenced by the environmental
temperature, and their activity, size
and breed. The amount fed should be
adjusted according to the dog's appetite
and condition. Extremely active or
hard-working dogs or pregnant/lactating
females may require and consume 1 ½ to 3
times the amount of food indicated for
their weight on the chart. Once per day
feeding is adequate for dogs over six
months of age. Always provide clean
fresh water.
PUPPIES:
Black Gold Professional Dog Food is
fully adequate and may be fed to puppies
as soon as they will nibble at solid
food (usually around three weeks of
age). Start feeding your puppy a
moistened gruel-like mixture containing
two parts food to one part warm milk or
water. The amount of liquid may be
gradually reduced as the puppy grows
older.
Puppies and growing dogs should be fed
all they will consume (approximately two
times the amount of food indicated for
their weight on the chart) in two or
three feedings per day until they are
about six months old. At that time their
food allowance should be gradually
reduced. Through proper food allowance
and exercise, puppies should be kept in
lean muscular condition until about 1½
years of age.
